Borja Jiménez will face six bulls on his own at the Bilbao charity festival

For the first time in the history of this charity event, a matador will face six bulls alone, in a day dedicated to raising funds for the Casa de Misericordia of Bilbao.

This past Wednesday, 25th September, the official presentation of the 67th edition of the Excmo. Club Taurino de Bilbao’s Festival took place at the Biva Aretoa Hall. The event, scheduled for 13th October, will see matador Borja Jiménez take on the unprecedented challenge of fighting six bulls single-handedly. This festival also marks the 250th anniversary of the Santa y Real Casa de Misericordia of Bilbao.

The presentation was hosted by local journalist Eduardo Velasco and featured prominent figures from the bullfighting world, including Borja Jiménez, the president of the Excmo. Club Taurino, Juan Manuel Delgado, and bullfighting entrepreneur Manuel Chopera. Many fans attended the event, along with members of the Casa de Misericordia’s Charity Board and representatives from Basque bullfighting clubs and organisations.

During the event, Borja Jiménez was awarded the “Iván Fandiño Trophy for Truth in Bullfighting” by the Vizcaya Bullfighting Federation, in recognition of his remarkable performance during the 2024 Corridas Generales in Bilbao.

Tickets for this one-of-a-kind event are now available online, by phone, and at the Vista Alegre box office.

As highlighted during the presentation, Borja Jiménez emerged as the standout matador of this year’s Corridas Generales, making him one of the leading figures of the season. To cap off this achievement, the Sevillian matador offered to perform alone at the festival, which will feature bulls from the Zalduendo ranch, an unprecedented feat in the history of this charity event.

Jiménez expressed his excitement for this opportunity, stating that it will be a defining moment in his career: “This year has been unforgettable, and to close the European season in this way is something that fills me as a matador. I hope it will be a memorable day, where I can showcase the bullfighting I carry within me, just as I did in August with the Fuente Ymbro bulls.”
