Matador Borja Jiménez has announced that he will not be able to fulfil his highly anticipated engagement in Bilbao on 13th October, due to the worsening of an injury to his left middle finger. The fracture, which occurred on 29th September during a tentadero at the Santiago Domecq ranch, has deteriorated despite his efforts to continue fighting, including a performance under medical infiltration in Madrid last Saturday, which further aggravated the injury.

Despite his determination and commitment to face six bulls alone in the historic charity festival at Vista Alegre bullring, the medical diagnosis has made it impossible for Borja Jiménez to take part in the event. The fracture in the proximal phalanx of his third finger, currently being treated with radiofrequency and magnetic field therapy, requires rest and ongoing monitoring. A further medical evaluation on 17th October will assess his recovery.

It is with great sadness that we at the Honourable Bilbao Bullfighting Club (Excmo. Club Taurino de Bilbao) have received the unexpected news of the abrupt end to Borja Jiménez’s season and his inevitable absence from the festival this coming Sunday.

We extend our best wishes for his swift and complete recovery, which is of paramount importance at this time.

With courage and generosity, he accepted the challenge of fighting six bulls alone for the benefit of the Casa de Misericordia, forever linking his name to the destiny of this historic festival. It is with regret that we must now announce the CANCELLATION of the event. From today, we are working to reschedule it for June 2025.

Tomorrow, Thursday, as a further demonstration of his commitment and affection for the Bilbao fans, Borja Jiménez will visit our city to explain in more detail the circumstances behind his difficult decision, which also includes his withdrawal from the Feria del Pilar in Zaragoza, the final major bullfighting event of the season.

With the same determination and dedication that we have shown since the announcement of this emblematic event, and with the enthusiasm we had for supporting such a worthy cause on the 250th anniversary of the Casa de Misericordia, we invite you to continue DREAMING of Borja Jiménez’s next appearance, which we are confident will be a resounding success.

Of course, the Club will be at your disposal to manage the refund of tickets from tomorrow, Thursday, 10th October, until Monday, 14th October, inclusive.
